A Watertown woman expressed deep concern for the wellbeing of others this past Saturday as she called the police to report a case of domestic abuse.
From her apartment window, the woman witnessed a lovers' quarrel between a man and woman in ther front lawn. Insults were slung, beers were thrown, and ultimately a large truck barrelled out of the driveway, squealing as it hit pavement. What the woman didn't notice was the scene outside her home played out THREE times! And nearly a dozen others stood in the front lawn watching the fight unfold with cameras and stone cold expressions as a movie was being filmed.
When the cops arrived, Walk With Me Productions filmmakers were met with some surprise. Providing permits, insurance, script, and footage, they explained the situation to the police officers and had quite the laugh about it. Everyone was fine, no one was injured, children on set greeted the police with smiles and laughs, and the two actors in the heated argument, Sonia Conlin and Joshua Porkarski, helped to difuse the situation.
When all was said and done, the police explained the situation to the caller who came over to apologize, but our filmmakers explained no apology was needed. "Cinder", our upcoming film, is meant to bring awareness to these situations and to encourage people to come forward or try to leave their situations. We applauded her for doing the right thing for someone she believed to be in danger, introduced her to the cast and crew, and got some photos with her and provided a signed copy of the script. That night, Walk With Me Productions gained an ally in our mission to bring awarenss and provide resources to those who need it.
Written by Director / Screenwriter Ashley Seybolt, "Cinder" is a dramatic thriller that brings awareness to domestic abuse via a dark modern twist on the iconic tale of Cinderella.
