I'm a technically inclined and visual individual wih a passion for story-telling, whether it's current events or a short film with a story I want to tell.
Currently, I am a News Producer at WWNY / WNYF in Watertown, NY. However, my duties extend beyond the production of our newscasts. My daily routine includes video management, news production, web writing and social media management.
Outside the work environment, I am a New Jersey Devils hockey fanatic, and am all about the chilly weather and the outdoors. I'm very active and can be found at the ice rink, on the slopes, or in the pool swimming laps.
Communications Experience
Since August 2016, I've had the privilege of working at the one of the best small-market television stations in the country. WWNY-TV, the CBS affiliate in Watertown, NY, is one of the highest rated stations in the country along with its sister station WNYF, North Country Fox. I am a jack of all trades in the newsroom. I produce newscasts while managing video content, maintaining the website, monitoring social media, and filing stories I shot and wrote myself. My schooling in computer technology also assists in problem-solving in the newsroom.
Education
Born and raised in the north country, I found my passion for film making in high school video production. The media production curriculum offered at Indian River Central High School fueled that passion. From there, I attended Jefferson Community College on a scholarship, receiving a degree in Computer Information Technology. While finishing up my Associate's, I was hired by WWNY-TV as a part-time video technician and have worked my way up to News Producer.
In college- I learned the ins and outs of computer technology, giving me the ability to troubleshoot any technical problems that come my way. I also challenged extra-curricular courses in technical writing and journalism to aide my abilities in news production.
On campus- I avidly encouraged students to embrace creativity and co-founded Jefferson Community College's Cinematic Production Club where I served at Treasurer. It was through this club that I was able to give college and high school students alike an outlet to express their creativity though the JCC Film Festival with over 30 individuals participating each year. The festival itself received recognition from the local news.
